Launched in China on January 10, 2025, the Tesla Model Y was officially launched in France this Friday, January 24 at dawn. You can already reserve the model on Tesla’s official website and at dealers. Here’s everything you need to know about the model when it launches.
After the Tesla Model 3 facelift in 2023, it’s the Model Y’s turn. The car, commonly called the “Juniper,” was officially launched this Friday morning in France, replacing the Model Y released 5 years ago.
Initially presented in China and launched discreetly on January 10, 2025, few expected this model to arrive in Europe so soon. But it’s done. We tell you all about the launch of this new Model Y in France.
Tesla Introduces Its New Model Y in Limited Edition ‘Launch Series’
For his arrival in France, the manufacturer did not use exactly the same strategy as usual. The new Model Y (2025) is initially available in a limited edition called: Long-range all-wheel-drive Y Launch Series model. The same range is also available in China along with a different powertrain – but in France only the latter is presented on the Tesla website. The others should arrive soon.
This Launch Series comes with 568 km and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, maximum speed 201 km/hin short, a fine balance between performance and autonomy – usual for this type of mid-range version. In addition, this Model Y has details that distinguish it from models that will be released later: in particular, the logo attached to the back, like the Plaid models.
When the door is opened, we find a plastic sill labeled Launch Edition accompanied by a light projecting a visual of the trunk logo onto the ground. We also find more Launch Edition listingsespecially based on the dual induction smartphone charger. Finally, the upper part of the dashboard is decorated with a black suede texture.
How much does the 2025 Model Y cost?
This new Model Y doesn’t come with the best news as there is a steep increase in price. The limited edition vehicle costs 60,990 euros including taxor €13,000 more compared to the previous generation Integral transmission with long autonomy Model Y. The cost of orders through the Tesla website is €250 – this remains unchanged and deliveries This model will premiere in March on French territory. Other models should arrive later with the possible return of classic versions:

- Long autonomy, drive
- Long range, all-wheel drive (replaces Launch Series)
- Power, all-wheel driv
It’s hard to know if the other versions will qualify for the environmental bonus and state support: in any case, this new model remains at weight (1997 kg) for now, but we’ll have to wait to see if a version under €47,000 is possible.

What’s new on this Tesla Model Y?
But what does this new model offer? Well, first of all, it will not escape your attention, the design has changed radically compared to the old generation. We find the Model Y lower, with particular new light signature in the form of a bar, both front and rear. The front resembles a Cybertruck. The tailgate, front and rear bumpers as well as fenders have been redesigned to give the SUV a slightly sportier look.
On its front bumper we find a new camera that has the luxury of a windshield washer and heating to avoid losing visibility in the event of fog or a dirty bumper.
But the big news in the cabin is that the Model Y marks the big return of the turn signal controls, a much-anticipated feature that was seen on the Chinese version and is now official on this French model. This will allow you to be more comfortable when changing direction.
The interior has also been redesigned with new materials to provide more comfort, according to the manufacturer. The USB charging system reaches up to 65 W, which is enough to quickly charge laptops, and there is also a better Wi-Fi connection, which should, among other things, reduce the time it takes to download updates. The sound system of this Launch Series version has 16 speakers. There are still two screens: a large 15-inch front screen and an 8-inch rear screen.
