Peugeot celebrates 100,000 orders for its E-3008: But where are the cars?

Peugeot claims 100,000 orders for its E-3008 in Europe. However, the registration statistics do not confirm such a success of the electric vehicle.

According to the statement of the French manufacturer, the Peugeot E-3008 would be a commercial success. A press release was even issued by Peugeot on January 16, 2025 to welcome the good results of its model launched in 2024: 100,000 orders recorded in Europe since its launch in 2024.

If these orders are delivered, the Peugeot E-3008 could be on the third step of the podium for electric cars sold in Europe in 2024, just behind the Y and the Tesla Model 3. However, the reality is different from this optimistic communication.

(Updated on 01/17) The 100,000 “E-3008” could be the orders recorded for the 3008 hybrid and the electric E-3008 orders, which would indeed be consistent with the observed data. However, which would mean that only 22,000 orders are actually related to electric motorization, far from the advertised commercial success. In any case, the press release is fundamentally misleading with the title: “New Peugeot E-3008: already more than 100,000 orders-commercial success”.

Deliveries from the Peugeot E-3008 in a dropper

The launch of the Peugeot E-3008 was delayed by software problems. The first deliveries were postponed for several weeks. The story could have stopped there and the Peugeot E-3008 could then take a good rhythm of production and deliveries. However, it seems that the model registration is not progressing every month. At its peak in October, Peugeot registered 594 copies of its E-3008 in France, its biggest market. It’s weak for such a novelty.

All this quickly leads to the thought that Peugeot is meeting with sustainable supplies to ensure the production of the E-3008 in larger volumes.

35,000 orders for France alone

Of the 100,000 orders recorded, 35,000 would concern France. A picture that is surprising, considering the results of E-3008 registrations during the year.

The Peugeot E-3008 was registered with 3,511 copies in 2024. It ranks 25ᵉ on the French classification of electric cars. Suffice it to say that we are very far from the good performance awarded by the manufacturer. In addition, Peugeot’s press release mentions registrations or deliveries.

Another surprising point is that buyers were able to get the Peugeot E-3008 in stock, strange for a model that has suffered so much. As for delivery times for those with orders, according to inquiries it is only 3 to 4 months. It doesn’t seem that long, for a vehicle that rarely exceeds 500 monthly registrations, for another 33,000 models to deliver.

You have to hope that production and deliveries can quickly increase in cadence. Otherwise, at this rate, it will theoretically take up to 10 years to deliver the ordered vehicles. Suffice to say, customers will flee the competition long before then. The concern is important for the great autonomy of the Peugeot E-3008 with the ACC 97 kWh battery, because it is difficult to know what the battery manufacturer will be able to provide Stellantis in honor of the orders.

Other characters to remember

The UK would be the second market for the model, with 25,000 copies ordered. With 9,000 orders, Germany is in third place. The rest is shared between other European markets.

100% electric motorization would account for 22% of total Peugeot 3008 orders. 2024.

Finally, Peugeot is pleased to announce that the GT finish is recognized by 60% of customers. The model currently offers only two finishes: etrolling (entry-level) and GT.

The brand is not commented on, there is a choice of version between the E-3008 210 with a 73 kWh battery and the large autonomy version of the E-3008 230 with a 97 kWh battery. Too bad this could possibly be one of the most interesting information.
